1. It was suggested in the sermon that we often categorise people by their familial relationships, country of origin, work, qualifications, position or interests. Do you agree or disagree? If you agree, why do you think we do this? If you disagree, in what other ways do we categorise people? What would be the best thing to do when we meet new people?

2. Look at Matt 7:21-23. What can we learn from this passage about the relationship between what we say and what we are?

3. Are we ‘sinners’ or ‘saints’? What do you think about this debate?

4. Look at the following verses to see how the Bible describes Christians. At the end, add any other descriptions in the Bible that you know are used to describe Christians (include references).
(1) Mt. 27:52; Acts 9:13; Rom. 1:7; 8:27; 16:15; 1 Cor. 1:2; Eph. 1:1; 2:19; Phil. 1:1; Col. 1:2; Jude 3 (note the variety of English translations here)
(2) Jn. 12:36; Eph. 5:8; 1 Thess. 5:5
(3) Acts 13:26; Gal. 3:7
(4) Rom. 9:8; Gal. 4:28
(5) Matt. 5:8; Rom. 8:14, 19; Gal. 3:26; 4:4-7; Heb. 12:5-8
(6) 1 Pet. 2:4-5
(7) 1 Cor. 12:12-27
(8) 1 Jn. 3:1, 2, 10; 4:4; 5:1, 2, 19; cf. Jn 1:12-13; see also Rom. 8:14, 16, 19, 21; Gal 3:26; 4:7; Phil. 2:15)

5. Look through the list of statements in the Neil Anderson attachment. Which of these statements do you find most encouraging and helpful? Which ones present a challenge for you or which one do you have a hard time accepting?

6. Explore 1 John 3:1-10. What characterises a child of God? And what characterises a child of the Devil?

7. What do the following passages tell us about children, their attitudes, the way they should be treated, and what we can learn from them?
i. Mt. 18:2-5; 19:14; Mk. 10:15; Lk. 18:16
ii. Prov. 22:15; 23:13f; Isa. 30:9; Jer. 5:7; Ezek. 20:18-21; Mt. 10:21; Tit 1:6; Heb. 12:8; 1 Pet. 1:14; 1 Jn. 3:18; 3 Jn. 4
