1. Spiritual War.

Read Ephesians 6:12. What does Paul say about the war we are involved in and who our spiritual enemies are?

What do the following passages tell us about the devil? 2Corinthians 4:4, John 12:31, Ephesians 2:2.

What insight about this unseen spiritual war do you gain from reading Daniel’s vision? Daniel 10:1-21, 11:1.

Is there a message about persevering in prayer?

Read Jude 8-10. What warnings are we given to treat this spiritual war we are involved in seriously? Discuss the attitude those people referred to in this passage had.

2. God’s Relationship with Israel.

Why do you think God called Israel His ‘Firstborn Son’? Exodus 4:22-23, Jeremiah 31:20.

Read God’s promise to Abram. Genesis 12:1-3.

How was the nation of Israel different than other nations of the ancient world?

What did God tell Moses he would do when He took the nation of Israel out of Egypt?

· Starting with the killing of every Egyptian firstborn son? Exodus 12:12.

· The drowning of the Egyptian army. Exodus 14:17-18.

What happened? Exodus 14:23-25.

What was the Israelite’s response afterwards? Exodus 14:31.

Fast forward 400 plus years, read a sample of what the evil Kings of Israel led the people to do. 1 Kings 16:25-33.

Discuss what influence you think the spiritual powers of darkness had?

God sent prophet after prophet to try to lead His people back to Himself.

Read Elijah’s encounter on top of Mount Carmel. 1 Kings 18:16-40.

Discuss Elijah’s prayer. 1 Kings 18:36-37.

3. Conclusion.

Read 1 Corinthians 10:1-24. Discus Paul’s point mentioned in 1 Corinthians 10:11-12 including the warning to be careful.

List some of those things that can be idols to us. Are there god’s we could fall into the trap of worshipping?
