This week’s study is the fourth in a series looking at 1 Corinthians.

A.  What does it mean to Glorify God and to not?

Read the following passages about….

  1. Seeing God’s Glory. Psalm 19:1-4, 2 Peter 1:16-18 (Matthew 17:1-8).
  2. Giving God Glory. Isaiah 6:1-4, Jude 24-25, Hebrews 1:3, Revelation 4:1-11, 5:11-14,            Ephesians 1:12, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Matthew 5:16, Philippians 1:20-21.

Discuss in your group….

Is there a difference between seeing and giving God Glory?

Does one need to come before the other?

B. Read 1 Corinthians 1:26-31.

Summarize the message Paul is wanting to communicate to the Church at Corinth.

What should be our motive for bringing Gory to God?

See 1 Corinthians 1:30, Ephesians 1:3-11, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 1 Peter 1:18-19, 5:4, Jude 24.

Make a list of some of the ways we can Glorify God.

What are things that can hinder God getting the Glory He deserves? See 1 Peter 5:5,

1 Corinthians 1:10-13, Romans 1:21-23.

Can you add to the list?

C.  Discuss the following….

“ We have opportunity to lay up treasures in Heaven (see Matthew 6:19-21) in this life….a fruit of walking with the Lord and relying on the Holy Spirit OR we can waste our time here on earth by living a mainly self controlled life and enter only by the skin of our teeth (see 1 Corinthians 3:15)”

Which would be the closest indicator of the way you are living your life at the present?

D.  Read again your list of ways to Glorify God.

Read 1 Corinthians 12:4-11. What point does Paul make in 1 Corinthians 12:4 & 11?

Do you know what your spiritual gift(s) is? Discuss in your group ways those unsure can discover theirs.

Are you using yours at church@paravista or elsewhere to Glorify God?

Discuss the importance of relying on the Holy Spirit.

E.  Read again 1 Corinthians 10:31 and Luke 9:23.

Is this your daily goal? Share your answer with others in your group.
