Bethany Kapezya (DR Congo, DPG Day 1)
Pray urgently for protection for Bethany and Claude and their family and all those in Lubumbashi as COVID is on the rise, and they have no vaccine. Our deepest condolences to Claude on the passing of his father. Pray for the family in their grief and as they make funeral arrangements.
Belinda and Herman Lamprecht (South Africa, DPG Day 2)
Praise God they now have a small bus for their family. Pray for Dima who has started her MDT training. If you want her newsletter and like to send her encouragement, her email is email@example.com. Praise God the violent rioting and looting has stopped in South Africa. Pray for increased political stability and food and employment security, as well as better control of COVID. Pray for Herman as his medical app for the Middle East has had recent bugs that Herman is trying to fix. Pray that, if it is God’s will, he can have the opportunity to meet his clients face-to-face.
Byron and Lyn Johannesen (Colombia, DPG Day 4)
Praise God for a productive time in Acevedo and Neiva. Pray for the return of those who have gone away from the Lord. Pray for the healing of the marriages of Andres & Karen and Johnnie & Julietta.
Phil and Sandy Jones (Mexico, DPG Day 5)
Praise God that Sandy is well enough to have tongue surgery on Wednesday (3 pm Mexico time). Pray that the margins will be clear and she doesn’t need to have more radiotherapy.
Paul and Debbie Howells (Philippines, DPG Day 9)
Praise God that, despite COVID limitations, many churches in the Philippines are growing and reaching people for Christ. Pray for Paul and Debbie as they’re planning to return there in early 2022. Praise God for the people they visited in South Australia and Victoria; praise God for them being granted permission to return to WA via SA. Praise God that Jubab is going well — in church and in his studies. Paul and Debbie’s children and grandchildren in the Philippines are also doing well.
Paul and Gerrah Kulikovsky (Philippines, DPG Day 10)
Pray that Paul and Gerrah will have peace as they enter a transition period in their ministry. It has been a difficult time for them, to leave at this time in this way during COVID. Pray that Paul will have clarity re what God want them to do next, even as he adapts to life in Australia. Pray that he recovers well from a second knee operation which he’s just had.
Paul and Erin Strahan (Australia, DPG Day 15)
Due to the deteriorating behaviour of the kids at the skatepark, Friday night Gospel Light outreach has been put on hold for a couple of weeks, and personalised prayer for the kids will take place instead. Pray that God intervenes in their lives, and that they will realise their need for Jesus. Pray for the faithful volunteers to have protection and strength from the Lord. Pray for the safety of shop owners and shoppers who have been impacted by the behaviour.
Talitha Follent (PNG, DPG Day 18)
Praise God that Talitha enjoys teaching her grade 2 kids in Ukarumpa. Pray for her to have the energy and stamina to get through the year, especially when she misses Australia. Pray she will rely more on God to give her the strength she needs.
Jason Stuart (PNG, DPG Day 19)
Praise God they have exemption to leave Australia and approval to enter PNG. Pray that they can get flight tickets soon to leave on 23 September.
Kevin and Eloise Dyer (Specialists, DPG Day 21)
Pray urgently for Haiti, where Saturday’s earthquake has left more than 750 people dead, more than 2800 injured, and many still missing (Bright Hope workers are safe). All this devastation is in addition to the political unrest after the president’s assassination, and tropical storm Grace is due to hit on Tuesday too. Pray for those who were or will be seriously impacted by these tragedies.
David and Ros (Restricted Access, DPG Day 29)
Pray for newly-wed friends M and Y who have been warmly welcomed to David and Ros’ church family. Pray that they will continue to meet with God’s people and embrace Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
Tess (Restricted Access, DPG Day 29)
Praise God Tess has passed her final language exam. Pray for her safety in coming months as she plans to visit other cities and team members. Pray for wisdom as she decides where God wants her in the future.
Simon and Ann (Restricted Access, DPG Day 30)
Pray for Ann as she has corrective lens surgery on her eyes — one was done last Thursday and it went very well, the other will be on 19 August. Pray for excellent results and a smooth recovery. Pray she won’t be anxious. Pray for Simon as he teaches another block course via Zoom this week. Pray for their eldest son Alan and his wife Pathricia as they settle down in Wellington. Pray that Pathricia gets her NZ resident visa.
Carol Luttah (CBMPNG)
Pray that Lynn gets approval soon to transit via Singapore to PNG (she didn’t leave Nairobi last week). Pray she doesn’t get discouraged. Pray for the new Wewak Bookshop Manager and the property manager as they adjust to their roles.
Pray for those missionaries who plan to return on home assignment and then return to their country of service, as new legislation now requires them to apply for travel exemption to leave Australia (whereas before they got automatic exit exemption if they entered Australia). Pray for Steve and Roslyn Baird (Philippines, DPG Day 9) who are returning for six months in early October.
